It doesn't work that way. If they could tell beforehand which version would be stable, then they would simply call all other versions "beta". When a problem is discovered, the package is rebuilt and the version number increases. Sometimes that happens often, sometimes it doesn't happen at all. It all depends on how good the quality of the original source is. And sometimes the version number goes up not because of a bug but because they added a patch that adds a feature. And sometimes the version number goes up simply because it got recompiled, and the automatic build system bumped the version number without any change at all (that's fairly rare though) But the supplementary packages is, was and will always be experimental packages put out there for people who cannot wait. There has always been at least one problem with them, and usually more. It's just the nature of the beast. If you want a stable 3.5.1, then I suggest you wait for SUSE LINUX 10.1
