It looks like sound support wasn't added to the kernel. Firstly, the errors I was getting from the command "modprobe snd-ens1370" were: «FATAL: Module snd-ens1370 not found.»
*All* SUSE kernels have sound support enabled, it wouldn't make sense otherwise. I just looked and snd-es1370 *is* present.
(/lib/modules/2.6.13-15-default/kernel/sound/acore/snd.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
Seems like you either built the drivers against the wrong kernel or against an unconfigured kernel.
And is it true that SuSE 10.0 Eval 64-bit doesn't ship with sound support?
No, that's wrong!
Okay, I've just downloaded and installed Suse 10.0 OSS 64-bit and guess what? Sounds works just fine. I've installed twice the Eval 64-bit and it looks like modules are missing, and when I install them, they complain about the kernel. kernel is the default, and kernel-source is what I use. Suse 10.0 Eval 32-bit works fine. I just hoped OSS was available on DVD. It sucks to download all 5 CDs. :( Cheers, Ricardo
