Well, i made a bit of a backup, put in the suse 10.0 dvd, in 10 minutes it was 
purring like it's supposed to do. Now, after about 90% of the apps 
re-installed, sda2 shows 26+gb free. formatted in ext3 of course.
Now i'm off to remove my temp backup files and try to remember what i forgot 
to install...
