Maybe what you need is another build of Kaffeine itself. From packman
for example. Direct link:
http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/10.0/i586/kaffeine-0.7.1-3.pm.0.i586.rpm
It differs from one shipped with SuSE 10.
In my case this one has solved problem with multimedia.
