lavc is DivX compatible - I think xvid can be used to playback DivX
content too, but I haven't tried it.
If you want to get a whole bunch of codecs all at once, google for the
"Nimo Cocec Pack"

kaffiene uses xine-lib for playback.
If you drop to a command line and play the file with mplayer, you can
see what codecs are identified by mplayer.
