I'm updating via apt and the sources.list from http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/home.html
All packages are up-to-date with the exception of some I've intentionally excluded (fontconfig, kernel, ipsec) ========
This may be the difference then, as I believe apt pulls from several other Gnome repositories. I'm running the same version of xmms as you, so I'm guessing there are some odd files I have installed you don't. thanks, Lee
