you are looking into why the DVD will not play back properly in Windows?
I think the Linux angle is the fact that the DVD was created in Linux and plays fine there. Probably not many people on Windows forums know much about mencoder.

The same could be said for Windows of Linux people :-) which is what I was getting at.
LOL!! Seems not many people no much about either, my self included, The solution I found by following advise onlist, which was to play the movie command line with mplayer and see which codec it uses. So I did and after hours of swearing and googling, I found ACE megacodecs, I installed it and the had to modify the ffdshow codec.
I'm surprised that the self appointed 'list police' haven't jumped on this thread with screams of outrage :-)
My whole point is that being as it is a Windwoes issue then somebody on a Windwoes forum may know more than us. Would you ask the members of a Windwoes forum or list why something wouldn't play back in Linux? I'm certainly not berating Chadley just trying to be constructive in offering a better field of information.

Agreed, but usually the people on the linux lists know more about windows to linux and linux to windows compatibility. Hence making this the best place to ask. Further more linux techs are much better techs by far than winodws techs. I can prove that statement, with some personal experiences.. pedestrians run down... 19 of 23 were a result of drinking.
