Seriously, try kontact. It has a summary page which in my mind is very nice.
The problem with the gnome developers is that they don't listen to users.
They have very fixed ideas about what their software should be like to be
"usable" and they don't really care if people actually can or want to use it.
KDE software is far more attuned to what people really want and like
