Mea culpa, mistyped, the sentence above which starts *rm will overwrite* should say mv will overwrite ... the rest IIIRC is correct .
I knew that but thanks for the clarification. Thanks also, for that tip. Don't know why I didn't think of that. Saved editing fstab. Trouble is that it didn't work. More to my problem than just a simple rewrite of fstab. Now Bob, repeat after me. NEVER NEVER mess with the partition table UNLESS you are prepared with a full backup and/or are ready to reinstall.
