Network interfaces swapped after using modem0

Dear list,

I'm using my work-laptop (with built-in ethernet (eth0), WiFi (eth1),
bluetooth and modem) to connect to the corporate LAN w/o problems.
Because I'm also traveling I use the internal modem to access a dial-in
service in order to access the internet.

Assume a sequence like this for a normal working day:

LAN connection (do some work) -> back home -> dial-in/modem connection

after that, when I come to work the next day and want to access the LAN
again it seems that the networking devices are swapped somehow...
On the first boot the eth1 seems to be the primary network interface and
eth0 doesn't get an IP address at all. So I must reboot everytime to get
things working properly (eth0 as primary network device). This happens
everytime I use the modem to connect to the internet before...

Any ideas?

TIA,
Martin
