This seems to be one of those topics that has been asked many times. I 
think I have asked myself at least once, but I still am not sure about 
it. Is there a preferred or best practice for the location of local mail 
folders? It seems it used to be /Mail or /mail, but kmail now defaults 
to a hidden folder in /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail, and 
thunderbird defaults to some other hidden (dot) folder. All these 
different locations keep changing over time and it gets pretty 
confusing. Is there a preferred way?
