udevinfo syntax help Puhleez!

I have been swimming through the manual(s) and am not able to successfully use
'udevinfo' except for specifying I want all info. The syntax is...
#udevinfo -q [path] -n [device_name]
...according to the manual, but always comes back with 'unknown query type' or
'path not specified'. It seems the [path] is somewhat ambiguous, and I could
use some guidance with this. (Fact is, on one distro I tested (for a
business) the udevinfo was 'so_bad' that the book example which matched the
box's devices/architecture came back with the same errors, which makes me
wonder if udevinfo is a bit flakey in and of itself.)
