Marc, it's been discussed couple times on this list in the past week or so. It's a bug in YAST (recorded in bugzilla). YAST sound module does not create a proper entry in /etc/sysconfig/hardware directory for the sound card and kernel modules are not loaded into memory. The soulution is to remove current card in YAST. Exit YAST (this is important), otherwise you get that message "cannot load modules". Make sure no sound modules are loaded (look at the output of lsmod command and if there are any, remove them with rmmod) Start YAST again and configure sound card. Use "Quick mode". This is important too, as other modes do not create entries in /etc/sysconfig/hardware. Make sure the card produces sound using test in YAST. Exit YAST. Look at the files in /etc/sysconfig/hardware directory and locate the file wich list module for your sound card. Rename that file to hwcfg-static-<number> Then your configuration will survive reboot and coldplug will load your sound card module into memory. In 9.3 modules were loaded by rcalsasound script. In 10.0 this functionality was moved to coldplug. -Kastus
