Absolutely. Until I upgraded to 10.0 last month I had the following set up: 1. Home - static IP, print to Samba printer. 2. DHCP (wired) - DHCP for my teaching jobs. Print via TCP/IP printer to specific classroom printer. 3. Wireless - Set up for MIT's wireless network The way I set it up is to start with my home. Then I copy the profiles. I then switch to the appropriate profile, make the changes.I use the scpm command directly, but you can also use YaST. On Wednesday 16 November 2005 11:20 am, Bruce Samhaber wrote:
Hi,
Is there a way to configure multiple network profiles in SUSE 9.3? I am running SUSE 9.3 on a laptop and want to connect it to different networks. For example:
1) Home Connection - Wired & wireless Ethernet - CUPS Print Server - Eventually Samba - Kmail should check mail automatically
2) Roaming Connection - Dial-up through Cell Phone from USB/COM Port (Idealistic) - Wireless Ethernet - Kmail should not check mail automatically
3) Office Connection - Wireless Ethernet - Windows print server. - Kmail should check mail automatically
4) Other Connection - Dial-up through built-in modem - Wireless Ethernet - Kmail should not check mail automatically
To really top off the functionality it would be great if the system autonmatically switched profiles dependent on detecting certain network parameters. For example: a) switch to Home Connection when the home wireless network is detected, switch to the Office when its network is detected, only swicth to the roaming connection manually
Each profile could contain rules for automatic switching. These rules could be of two types A) under what conditions to look for a new network B) when to switch to this network profile when searching.
Thanks,
