Hi, Nothing more for SuSE, but contrarily to SuSE database advice, I configured my Sata controller in AHCI mode and tried again Mandriva Linux 2006, not only it installs on my SCSI disk, but it recognize the SATA controller, installs the driver and start Linux installation without any problem on the SATA disks in native SATA mode. I like SuSE, I hope that one or more SuSE people will read this message and the previous one and help me with my installation of SuSE 10. I was unable to register my copy on the Novell site in order to get help as I did earlier!! Thanks Michel. PS : copy of the first messages I run SuSE since release 7.1 without problem, but I just built a new computer : - Asus P5WD2 Premium motherboard, Intel 955X chipset - Pentium extreme edition (Pentium 840 dual core with hyperthreading) processor - 1 GB DDR2 memory - Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX Pci express - Hitachi T7k250 Sata2 250 GB disk - Hitachi 7k500 Sata2 500 GB disk - IDE DVD rom and IDE DVD writer for earlier compatibility I installed : - Adaptec 39160N SCSI adapter with SCSI CRrom and 36GB HD I tried to installed SuSE 9.3 or 10.0 (32 bits for beginning) either in normal or in safe mode and the system freezes after : Activating usb devices Activating ieee1394 devices Searching for file info ... As indicated in the SuSe database, I choosed the compatibility mode in order to be able to install on SATA disks ! In order to ckeck if the problem comes from SATA, I uninstalled the SATA disks and kept only the SCSI disk, same result ! In order to test, I installed Mandriva 2006 Free without any problem on the SCSI disk, so is it an AsuS problem ? or a SuSE problem ?
