I have symlinks already for dvd and cdrom
They are both pointing to the same device. Or are you meaning for me to make a symlink that points the dvd to the cdrom symlink? I am confused on how that would work.
Could you please explain a bit more?

If you already have a DVD link pointing to /dev/cdrom then you have already done what worked for me (ln -sf /dev/cdrom /dev/dvd) and I am afraid I can't help, much. I know i had to fiddle with the command line a little bit b-4 I got it working correctly. I finally made a batch file which would back anything up. Alas, I don't know what I did with it when I changed to SUSE 10. -- ...Yogich
