You might be better off with a backup program that creates CD/Dvd sized images (Kdar and dar) and then you make a shell script to burn the isos.
Backup programs usually dont mess with those timestamps you are trying to preserve.

Hi all:
I would like to backup my data on CD/DVD.
I've tried k3b, NeroLINUX on SUSE 9.3, 10.0 but they're just=20
does not produce what I expect.
My main problem is that both of them sets the folder creation=20
times to the current time. The folder creation times can be=20
really important later when I look at the data.
k3b 12.7 claims that preserves the permissions and times of all=20
files it burns if the backup option is checked but actually it does=20
not. I tried it with k3b-0.12.7-5 on SUSE-10.0 x86_64.
Furthermore preserving time stamps should be independent=20
from preserving permissions and UIDs, GIDs.
Is there a GUI CD/DVD frontend/burner that does this job?
Thanks,
IG
