I did some web searching and the short answer is as
Richard
points out. The current SLI is not supported on linux.
However,
the next release NVIDIA 1.0-8XXX apparently will
support
linux.

So it looks like we should hold off buying a pair of
cards just
yet unless we want to run them with windoze.
