If unsure, test it manually ;-)
telnet pop3.gmail.com 110 # servername guessed ;-)
user your.username
pass your_password
list # shows you a list of messages
top 1 50 # shows the first 50 lines of message 1
quit
If this works, you should start looking for problems in your mail
client.

Bei mir war es dann doch sinnvoller, bei dem nicht
funktionierenden Laufwerk (Scheiss Linux! Scheiss Yast! Scheiss
Suse! Alles Scheisse!)...ähem... den IDE-Stecker auch wirklich
reinzustecken (Scheiss Ratti....) :-)) [Ratti in suse-linux]
