Is there an easier way to simply send resume's etc than spending months studying hylafax?
Other possibilities: Most ISPs provide their Internet access customers (dialup & DSL accounts, etc.) space on-line to publish personal web pages. Publish your documents there (generic cover letter & resume) in HTML and .pdf formats. This way, you can e-mail responses with links (immediate & convenient) instead of using snail mail or ending up buried in a pile of faxes. You can then also post the links in on-line classifieds and job boards. What you end up sending or posting looks something like this: "blah blah blah... Here are the links to my resume: View on-line (html): http://www.youraccessprovider.ext/~spitzer/resume.html Downloadable PDF: http://www.youraccessprovider.ext/~spitzer/resume.pdf blah blah blah" You should also keep a text-only version available to post, when requested, directly into prospective employer resume databases. Use the text version as your 'master' and use it as a guide when updating the html and pdf versions. Keep them synchronized! Regarding faxes, I was going to try the on-line TCP/IP to land-line fax services once, but I honestly believe most employers now prefer e-mail & Internet based submissions. I had two phone lines and did the above plus faxes, plus voice mails (customized messages) using my desktop back in '92-'93 (Santa Clara/Sunnyvale)... expectations in this regard have really matured since then. good luck, - Carl
