Good Afternoon.
Just when I think that I about have this whipped. I get this scenario.
Samba 3.0.13 on SuSE 9.3 Windows client: W2000
I attempt to login and I receive the following on the client:
The following error occurred attempting to join the domain cmc Login Failure: unknown user name or bad password
But in the log I receive the following set of messages:
[2005/10/12 09:45:42, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(305) check_ntlm_password: authentication for user [fparks] -> [fparks] -> [fparks] succeeded [2005/10/12 09:45:42, 2] lib/access.c:check_access(324) Allowed connection from (192.168.51.254) [2005/10/12 09:45:42, 2] rpc_server/srv_samr_nt.c:_samr_lookup_domain(2580) Returning domain sid for domain CMC -> S-1-5-21-3660221960-2186662495-583977386 [2005/10/12 09:45:42, 2] rpc_server/srv_samr_nt.c:_samr_lookup_domain(2580) Returning domain sid for domain CMC -> S-1-5-21-3660221960-2186662495-583977386 [2005/10/12 09:45:43, 2] smbd/server.c:exit_server(609) Closing connections [2005/10/12 09:45:43, 2] smbd/server.c:exit_server(609) Closing connections [2005/10/12 09:45:43, 2] auth/auth.c:check_ntlm_password(305) check_ntlm_password: authentication for user [fparks] -> [fparks] -> [fparks] succeeded [2005/10/12 09:45:43, 2] lib/access.c:check_access(324) Allowed connection from (192.168.51.254) [2005/10/12 09:45:43, 2] smbd/server.c:exit_server(609) Closing connections
I'm sure that someone has run into this before, but I can't find anything.
I'd start with a newer version of Samba -- I had an issue like this, and it turned out to be a bug that the Samba project had already fixed. Latest SuSE RPM's are at ftp://suse.osuosl.org/pub/suse/projects/samba/3.0/ or the equivalent in your favorite mirror.
