I am trying to get a webcam to work on suse linux enterprise server 9. Apparently (one of ) 'the' packages to 'read' the cam, would be "webcam", part of xawtv. I tested on my personal suse 9 system, where this package exists. But after installation, the "webcam" program isn't there. (Even though http://linux.bytesex.org/xawtv/ says that "webcam" is part of the xawtv package)
Historically webcam has always been part of xawtv. When I installed SuSE 9.2 I noticed for the first time it was separated. I am not totally sure about this, but check SuSE's v4l-tools package and see if webcam is in there.
