Hello,
Replaced a bad motherboard on a server and now partitions aren't found as Linux loads;
Waiting for device /dev/hda2 to appear:... resume device /dev/hda2 not found (ignoring)
Waiting for device /dev/root to appear:... not found -- exiting to /bin/sh $
There isn't much I can do from here. Can anyone point me in the right direction to recover from this mess?
This a mail server. (Ouch!)
A mail server without raid? I hope you have a reliable backup! Your information is not that extensive, so I can only give some generic advice. a) If your mainboard is not identical to the old one the partitions might be numbered differently. Use the first installation cd to boot in rescue mode and try to find out, what they are. Change /etc/fstab accordingly. b) Check if your ide module is actually loaded and the partitions are recognised. Sandy -- List replies only please!
