Perhaps you are missing a default route.

I've also tried putting GATEWAY=192.168.0.1 in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-id-whatever. tried coping the whole /etc/sysconfig/network/ directory from 9.3 to 10. Tried several times with yast2.
Still no connection to the outside world. I can ping as far as the gateway. Even tried pinging the ipnumber of the nmeserver, no luck.
