I have it working on my Dell Inspiron 600m with the same vesions you
have listed. You didn't mention which version of linaeakconfig - I have
0.4.1b-5.
My suggestion - try launching the deamon and the others from the console
(as root?) and see what messages you might get.
On another note - how does one find the versions of a given software
without having to go into YaST?
