If you add your old home partition as /home again and do a new
installation, it will detect that /home/jdanield exists already (if
jdanield is your login) and offer to change UID for you. This worked
fine for me during my new installations...

Please call the product SUSE Linux 10.0 - SUSE 10 remains me of SUSE
Linux Enterprise Server 10 (without a dot),
