Use your SUSE boot cd and reboot. Upon boot, choose installation and then boot installed system.

You could also use ddrescue and make a bit by bit copy verbatim to empty space and then again. there is ghost for unix. There is Kdar.

Keep your system running so you wont get locked out.

There are several solutions to your question.

Why not just cut an ASR backup and recover that to your new drive?
