Mike - Thanx. As Francesco and Donn indicated, I needed to open a shell
*as root* (big "duh" on my part) and then I did as you said and
downloaded again. Worked fine.

I had used Opera with RH 7.1 a couple of years back or so. I liked it,
but was annoyed by the ads. v.8.5 looks nice but so far I see no reason
to jump ship from Firefox.
