To Lode: yep, ftp.belnet.be would definately be a killer. AFAICR it's sitting on the backbone between Frankfurt and Amsterdam, so it should be a decent alternative for people outside Belgium as well.
Oh God, yes please. Belnet would be a great adition. They already mirror one or two other distro's, so openSUSE would be a great addition.
One or two? Make that 20 :) Belnet is indeed a killer network. They host the Belgian internet exchange (BNIX), and are just a few hops away from most major European IXs. AFAIK they are also connected to Internet2. At present they mirror the following distros: SuSe, arch, aurora, aosity, centos, crux, damnsmallinux, debian, edulinux, fedora, fnux, foresight, frugalware, gentoo, gnoppix, knoppix, lineox, linuxfromskratch, mandrake, mepis, netwosix, pclinux, redhat, slackware, specifix (now rpath), startcom, ubuntu, whiteboxlinux, whoppix, YDL, yoper and a few more. In addition they host things like apache, binds, backports.org, linux kernel, openoffice, openbsd, freebsd, openssl, and lots of other cool stuff. They used to host a Sourceforge mirror, but apparently they dont anymore. It's one of the best mirror sites around. I used to be connected directly to Belnet (100 Mbit port to a switch with a Gbit uplink) .. Ah.. those were the days. I'll mail the maintainer again to see if he's open for an openSUSE mirror. Best, Lode
