That didn't work for me with the latest upgrade. When I executed the file NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7667-pkg1.run it said there was no matching driver found and offered to compile it for me -- which worked just fine.
<snip> FWIW, the *.8 kernel was failing for me as well with the Yast'd nvidia driver. An annoying upgrade. The Yast nvidia driver would partially start then fail according to the x log. Downloading the 7667 driver from nvidia directly and installing via that process solved the issue. Thanks Robert. Regards, matt.
