Does anyone know what "CPU0 to GOLEM0 Tx Speed select" means on a dual opteron motherboard? It's a BIOS setting.
I have no idea what GOLEM0 means (neither does google), but considering that there's a CPU0 to CPU1 thingy too (have a look at this: http://www.rioworks.com/Download/hdama%20rev.e/manual/HDAMA%20Rev.E.pdf), I would guess it's the hypertransport bridge speed between the CPU and the rest of the machine, as opposed to the HT-bus speed between the two CPUs.
Just a guess...
Your guess is as good as my guess, Hans.. It is a HDAMA board I have (plenty, in fact), but I have never dared to touch that setting. I can choose between 600 and 800MHz, but that's hardly a good lead. Oh well, I guess I have to ask Arima support about it. Thanks anyway!
Got a reply from Arima.. Our guesses was kinda good.. :) "CPU0 to GOLEMO Tx speed is an option to select speed link between CPU0 and Chipset8131."
Now I just have to find out if I should set it to 600 or 800MHz.. :)
I'm suprised you *can* choose 600mhz! As far as I remember the Hyper Transport bus was introduced at 800mhz, and has been bumped to 1ghz since.
Yep, I don't understand that either. But since I didn't know before what that setting was, I left it at default (600). Now I've changed to 800 on all my servers, and everything looks just fine. -- Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting
