Please do a fsck - this error looks like your filesystem could be broken. (BTW, for my statistics: which filesystem do you use?)
That would be ext2, because reiser is not mountabble at that moment. No problems there. If you like I can use another filesystem. I just mount /dev/hdf1 as /mnt and then copy /var/log/ to /mnt I am unable to do an ls when the error is shown. At that moment no disks are normally accisible, because all should be in RAM, expect the ext2 partition I have made and mounted. The other files ARE available. I can copy the rest of the log files.
Also let memtest86 (from DVD boot menu) run several hours to check if your RAM is ok.
Thought of that as well and saw no problem. It ran for several hours. I tried the network instalation and that worked without a problem. I also have downloaded cd1 a second time from a different server with the same result. houghi -- Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months. -- Oscar Wilde
