This is what I did for SuSE 9.2: Don't install xine or Kaffeine from the SuSE installation disc. If you did install them, uninstall.
Go to this site http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/ and follow the steps listed.
Then go to your SuSE installation disc and install Kaffeine.
In my case, at least, this results in a perfectly working xine and Kaffeine which play a wide variety of video file formats and encrypted DVDs.
