Try creating a new user, login to the new user account and see if the same problem exists when adding a new account to evolution in the new user login account. This is to rule out whether or not it is a system/application problem.
I did it already while waiting for list response. There is the same problem even with the new user! OK, it was not a new user, it existed before, but it's a dummy one, created just for recreating defaults in cases of trouble. Evolution was never used by this user before. Again, the setup wizzard died at the same step...
I am really confused with this.
Thank you for the answer. Hope that this thread won't die before I get the solution :) ... I relied a lot on evolution. I have long history of my mails archived in local folders...
Try re-installing evolution again from the DVD/CD. Perhaps something has become corrupted. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge
