detecting drives with cxoffice

I'm using crossover office 4.1 on Suse9.3 and trying to see my cd/dvd
readers/writers. I've asked for help through the xo discuss maillist with no
response.
When I fire up a window app in xooffice, it searches for drives and gives me
the result "No Devices Detected!" My /dotwine/dosdevices directory has 6
links to all the proper devices. I've tried to open a cd/dvd via Internet
Explorer and other apps but none will see the removables. They seem to see
the harddrives ok.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Yes, I've RTFM and Googled for
days with no luck.
