I tried to use yast, I tried to modify directly the /etc/sysconfig.d/network/ifcfg-* files, ... I even used Windows methods and restarted the machine, ....
How can I get this machine fixed?
Since you did not post what version of SuSe i'll assume 9.x. Ethernet devices are mapped by mac address. So ifcfg-eth-id-<mac>. To correct the change go into Yast, delete the devices, exit, then go back into Yast. For some reason Yast does not always change the devices correctly with a motherboard change if you just go in and change the configuration. Delete then recreate.
