Yep. SuSE's package fails miserably. Try the following steps.
Uninstall Opera completely (apt remove opera, or rpm -e opera)
Download Opera's RPM from here:
http://www.opera.com/download/index.dml?platform=linux
Install.
Your problems should be disappear. This works (at least for me on 9.3)
