Hi .

This all points very nicley down the path of HDD problems brewing , Boot from 
the rescue cd and run reiserfsck cant remember the options off the top of my 
head right now but no doubt someone will do .

anyway you got disc problems wether they are fixable or not you will have to 
see the results .
