I _think_ it's called the frame. I have splash=verbose, and I've got some kind of graphics background/frame as the bootup messages scroll. How do I get rid of it? I just want text on black, preferably without having to change vga to normal (I prefer the small text).
Try splash=native
Please note that the only "splash=" parameters recognized by the kernel are "silent" and "verbose". Anything else the kernel tries to interpret as a number for the foreground and background colours. So splash=native is equivalent to "splash=0"
