Just for interest sake, you can do a 9.3 FTP install using the 9.2 Install CD. Yes, 9.2. It boots up with the 9.2 kernel, but the rest is 9.3. I've copied the contents of the DVD to our server at work and installed all the workstations that way (didn't have the CD on me).
Works perfectly.
But it looks as if I need a IP number to install via FTP, or do I misunderstand something (e.g. should the "mini" installer contain a mini system with YaST thatacn be used for installig the system?). Yes. I my case it was IP: 192.168.16.2 Dir: suse/9.3
You'll have to find what exactly you're using. In the mirror you quoted it would be: IP: 130.225.247.87 Dir: suse/i386/9.3
That mirror doesn't seem to be complete though.
The full ftp install version is not in place yet. Taken from the readme.txt file: Additional note: The complete SUSE Linux 9.3 FTP distribution is being worked on and will be made available in this directory. Meaning it is -not- there yet. If it is not on the main site it cannot be on any mirrors. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge
