I installed new computer with Suse 9.3, got everything to work and I put machine to use in classroom. But then after few logins I think, mouse doesn't work nicely. When user logins (even root), mouse cursor is displayed, but it doesn't move... When I just run Yast->Hardware->Mouse model, mouse starts to work nicely. It is USB mouse, when I unplug-plug it, in shows messages in log file nicely. I tried to use ps2 mouse, but it didn't help also...
Any suggestions?
Get a command line (Alt + f1); log in as root; give command sax2 and then reconfigure your mouse. You may be asked to go to run level 3; if so do init3. I had the same problem with a Intellimouse explorer connected via a USB to PS2 adaptor. It seems to work better as PS2. You can get information about your mouse through hwinfo --mouse This worked for me, thanks to Suse installation support by telephone. Gervase Chavasse
