Wouldn't it be better to remove the hidden Kopete config file in your /home directory? If you remove the application and reinstall it, all the problems you're having probably won't be corrected... Linux isn't Windows. If an application worked initially, and you haven't tinkered with the installed files (for which you'd need to be root to do) then there is probably nothign wrong with the installed application. Delete the hidden .kopete folder, and restart Kopete... it will be back it's inital settings as if you had just installed it. Setup your MSN account again, and things should work again.
Better, do not delete it, just rename it to .kopete.old. This will help you to recover some of the settings if something goes wrong. Cheers Sunny
