Hello all, I'm looking at a new laptop and I'm checking all the usual sites for recommendations and compatability issues. I was hoping to find someone with the same laptop running a newer version of SUSE, such as 9.2, who could comment on their experiences with this machine. Like anyone buying a laptop who intends to install Linux I worry about ACPI issues, the graphics controller and wireless devices. Any thoughts or insights are very welcome. Our contract is with HP, so the machine has to come from HP: --|-- HP Compaq nw8000 --|-- Intel Pentium M processor 755 (2.00GHz) 15-inch TFT XGA display ATI Mobility Fire GL T2 graphics controller with 128-MB DDR SDRAM Gigabit Ethernet NIC (This shouldn't be a problem) Integrated Secure Digital (SD) flash media slot (I expect this NOT to work right using Linux, which is fine.) USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 (Shouldn't be a problem) Integrated wireless 802.11 (Could be problems...) -- I have a call in to an HP engineer to determine the chipsets of the wireless options available, they are as follows: HP W500 802.11a/b/g HP W400 802.11b/g Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 802.11b wireless LAN Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g wireless LAN As always, TIA.
