I'm trying to establish Firebird on SuSE 9.1 and have struck a blank (brain that is)
1. I'm logged in as root 2. /etc/sysconfig/firebird is a text file which I "found". It contains "START_FIREBIRD="yes" 3. ps -A shows no indication of firebird as a running service
Why is it so?
Any tips appreciated
Thanks
Mike
What version do you have ? I have 1.5.0.4290-0 Superserver installed. There was an init-script included (see /opt/firebird/misc).
Konrad - the version Yast claims is installed is 1.5.1.4481-0 and I have the /opt/firebird/misc/firebird.init.d.suse in my hot little hand - not that I know precisely what to do with it :( Maybe I should link a special filename to it? Mike
