I'm trying to establish Firebird on SuSE 9.1 and have struck a blank (brain that is)
1. I'm logged in as root 2. /etc/sysconfig/firebird is a text file which I "found". It contains "START_FIREBIRD="yes" 3. ps -A shows no indication of firebird as a running service
Why is it so?
Any tips appreciated
Thanks

What version do you have ? I have 1.5.0.4290-0 Superserver installed. There was an init-script included (see /opt/firebird/misc).
How did you install. I tried to compile (so I could install it using rpm), but the compile fails. Which is marked as being a typical suse thing.... Whatever I tried nothing helped to pass the undefined reference to tgoto and friends....
