New thread about the sound problems I'm having in 9.3 (rather than hijacking the other thread which was not only about sound problems) To summarize, sound was working fine, until I rebooted. After a reboot I had two problems... no more KDE, and no sound. The missing KDE was fixed by editing my sysconfig file and changing it back to KDE (from tvm). But.. the sound... the best I can get out of 9.3 right now is two stutters of sound and then nothing. Someone suggested (on the other thread) that it might be artsd not playing nicely and to kill it and disable it. I've done that and still have the exact same results... two stutters of sound and then nothing. /var/log/messages has this: --------- Apr 22 16:37:29 linux kernel: ALSA sound/core/pcm_lib.c:2113: playback write error (DMA or IRQ trouble?) Apr 22 16:37:39 linux kernel: ALSA sound/core/pcm_native.c:1433: playback drain error (DMA or IRQ trouble?) --------- A bit of Googling and I see posts of other people with similar probs, but no real solutions...or ideas. The closest I've seen to a solution is a Kernel patch on a 2.6.0 Beta kernel. Not something I'd particularly like to tinker with. Anyone else encounter this?
