Oh, get real and also rid of that paranoia! The main reason is much
simpler! Driver development costs money, so you look at the (perceived)
user numbers and decide whether it's worth the effort for you. For many
it's not.
There are also a number of other reasons and *none* of them is
"Microsoft is to blame".
