Then how would the system sounds be played?
It could be a permissions thing. The KDE stuff doesn't use UNIX style
permissions, it uses the resource manager resmgr. alsaplayer I'll bet doesn't
know what resmgr is so it tries to go for the device directly, and if you
don't have permissions to the device, you lose
