Anyway, i wasn't aware that it was a SuSE-specific problem. Do you know if the other distros use subfs for auto-mounting? Next time you mount the M3, unmount it before doing any transfers and try remounting it directly, i.e.:
I suspect they don't use subfs ... I'm going to try all the suggestions made so far, and report back.
By the way, I know this isn't an audio-player list but do you know of some decent music management software, I like kaudiocreator but the whole renaming thing gives me the ache.
KAudioCreator is certainly better than GRip, but not without its issues (eg the one with SUSE 9.1 doesn't seem to write its tags properly (ie at all). EasyTag (http://easytag.sourceforge.net) is by far the best tag-manager I've come across (thanks to Philipp Thomas, who put a version on the SUSE disks), but (since it's GTK-based?) has a slightly non-intuitive interface. It will slice and dice your tags, but also does renaming. You caould also look at jTagger (http://jtagger.sourceforge.net). -- Pob hwyl / Best wishes Kevin Donnelly www.kyfieithu.co.uk - Meddalwedd Rhydd yn Gymraeg www.cymrux.org.uk - Linux Cymraeg ar un CD!
