How did you choose "the Brother"?
What is the CUPS DeviceURI?
When printing (i.e. data transfer) via plain TCP socket to a HP
printserver box, normally its port 9100 is associated with its first
parallel port and port 9101 is associated with its second parallel port.
Use "nmap" (see the SUSE LINUX manual) to determine the ports
on the printserver box.
Use "netcat" (see the SUSE LINUX manual) to test whether plain
data transfer via TCP socket works as expected.
If data transfer via TCP socket doesn't work this way, try to
print via LPD protocol. See the manual of the printserver box
which LPD queue names are associated with its parallel ports
(often it is something like LPT1 for the first parallel port
and LPT2 for the second parallel port).
Kind Regards,
Johannes Meixner
